Any possibility of getting some pictures of the brackets ya'll have fabbed up or bought to mount your York's to the engine? Either v-belt or serpentine are fine, I dont care where you mounted it, just what design you used for the brackets is what I'm looking for. I'm not entirely certain yet if I'll mount the York on the CJ or the YJ. The CJ certainly has more space available, but the YJ is the wife's and I'd like her to have the capability...

At any rate, if ya could snap a picture that would be great!

    I don't have picks, I don't have the 258 any more.

But I used the A/C bracket from 258 out of a CJ. The alternator and A/C hook to it on the passenger side of the engine.

Does the YJ have A/C ? You can "look" at the barckets at Kilbys website.

No A/C on the YJ, and of course none in the junkyard in 29 either. I'll keep looking. I saw the ones on Kilby, but didn't want to be that blatant about where I get the design for mine. Honesly, I think I just need some angle with a gusset and then knotch out some mounting holes to align it with the belt. I'm making it sound too easy though, I know there's more to it than that.

I'm pretty sure I have a spare OEM 258 York AC mount from a CJ. Let me know if your interested in going that route.

Thats what I used on my '89 YJ. Works great!

Thanx Matt & Coupe that helps out a great deal. One thing I notice about people's engines in posts is that they're REALLY CLEAN.

Coupe, thanks for the detail shots around the valve cover. Is that anchored with the head bolts? And then looks like there is a single upward arm from the PS bracket up to the bottom of the plate of the AC mount?

Matt, keep that AC bracket handy... I may just get that from you!

Yes, the plate is attached by the 2 headbolts...well the 2 studs. I just added the plate and added 2 nuts. A single arm 'angle iron' welded to the plate that gets attached to where the power steering bracket is. If I ever have to change the valve cover gasket, I'll have to undo the plate. At the time when I mounted the York I still had my mechanical fan. I was aiming for the inner groove on the York but the fan would hit the compressor if I moved it out further. Now that I have the electric fan I can move the compressor out so I can use the groove I'm using now for an OBW setup. I plan on installing studs on top of the york so I can quickly slip on a belt and wing nut a plate/spring loaded alternator to weld with

Keep in mind which compressor you have or will need. Your suction side needs to be ontop. I have a left side and matt has a right side. I happened to luck out. I bought it not know where it was going to be mounted. I'm pretty sure if I had a 210R I would be able to have the head facing toward the valve cover. Just something to think about.

I actually have stock mounting hardware from a 258 that was in an AMC eagle with a York AC unit. make me an offer, remember I'll have to ship it from Santa Cruz.
