Um...I have a '91 Jeep Wrangler YJ, base model with a 4 cylinder. Um...what axles have it got, most likely? I looked up a few, and I think I may have Dana 35's...but I may be just over hopeful ^.^

The d30 up front holds up well, and is easily replaceable if you have problems, which is one of the reasons most folks still run one in front. Most folks replace the d35 rear with a d44 or better.

The 4 cyl can make an excellent trail rig but it requires a slightly different philosophy.
You want to build it light with tons of gearing. The D30/35 will be ok, not great, but OK. Go with 4.88 gears and put a tera-low 4:1 in the transfer case. Then remove everything that is not absolutely essential."your jeep looks so hot!!"

^ No a 4:1 is only in your TC and that should only be on when your off road in low gear. and dont worry about your 4cyl so much, its OK i know people with a 4 banger and it does just fine. and the 30 35 setup in my Xj does just fine... and ive been what i would call some pretty decent trails.|90 XJ|4.0|AX-15|NP231|RE H&T|TnT Y-Link|RE Coils|BOR Leaves|ACOS|D30/Aussie|8.8/ARB|35" Kevlar MTRs|Custom Exo,Sliders,Bumpers|

Yes. The 4:1 is simply a replacement low ratio gearset in your t'case. It has no affect in 2wd or high range 4wd, as far as gear ratio's are concerned anyway.olllllllo <--- If you can read that, roll me over!
Price is soon forgotton, quality is not.
