  • T18-1b

Well my T18 collection grew to 3 this weekend.I was in a local junkyard and found a 1977 CJ7 with a T18 in it.I bought it with the Dana 20 and drive shafts. As with my other T18's this one also is a T18-1B.The other 2 came out of 1974 and 1975 CJ5's and both have the 4.02 1st gear.I assumed this one also was a 4.02 1st gear but low and behold it's the 6.32 1st gear.I thought all the T18-1B's were the 4.02 but I guess not or maybe someone swapped the internals along the line.I also like that this one doesn't require the 1" cast iron adapter plate between the tranny and bellhousing as it has the shorter input shaft.I didn't put one of the others in my '83 CJ as the 4.02 and the Dana 20's 2.03 low range only gave a 8.16:1 gear ratio verses my T176 and Dana 300 gave a 9.22 ratio, however this one with the dana 20 gives a 12.83 ratio so it may just go in my CJ5 or I may use it in '84 CJ7 I'm collecting parts for( almost ready to start assembling it).Of course I'm still searching for one of the elusive T18-YB's that were in military vehicles.Does anyone have any other information on the T18-1B's or other varients of the T18?Anyone know of parts sources for T18's?
