I am replacing a 1985 258 V6 with a 1990 258 V6 that was given to me. I have noticed that the motor mounts are different, is there a write up somewhere on how to go about this problem or does anyone know how to help me. I know that I need new motor mounts but how do I go about doing this. I have never done it.

when I replaced my 258 with a yj I used my motor mounts, the only problem I ran in to was the pilot bearing for the input shaft from my T5. Other than that no problem.
Just a bear trying to get the bearing out of the chankshaft.

Most any parts store will have the new engine mounts.
I was meaning to use the metal parts from your old mounts and get the new rubber portion from the parts store. It makes sense to change the mounts while you have it apart.1956 Willys Wagon restomod

That is what I did, I looked for a Tarus fan in three or four junk yards and could not find one.
So I just purchased the 575 fan from summit with the temp controller. It hooks up real clean. And it clears my water pump by 1/2 or 3/4 inch1956 Willys Wagon restomod

pick a part in ontario,ca has about 10 taurus' sitting there with the fans in them. good place for the York210's to...
its odd that you'd have a problem. a 258 is the same as a 242 block wise in regards to exterior architecture. true the mounts may be different but the length of the block shouldnt be. .. good time to go electric though. i'll be selling a 97 tj long block with intake, manifold and most everything else over the next few months as my stroker allows.1st batch TJ bought August of 96. 700 bucks. that'll include intake, tb, exhaust, ign, water pump, plugs, wires, basically everything except the oil pan, timing cover, flywheel, and oil pressure sending unit. oh and no electricals on the tb. im using those of course.
motor is still great actually. i do get some cold start piston slap for about 3 minutes but thats normal. has like 115,000 miles on it and has been WELL taken care of. let me know if your interested. i may even part before i have my stroker together to help pay for the stroker. 909 921 84371st batch TJ bought August of 96.
