  • 4x4 wont disengage...

ok... so my 4x4 isn't disengaging completely or somethin. It still goes into 2x4 with no power to the front wheels, but ith as a vibration after you take it out of 4x4 and drive down the highway, but eventually it goes away. Sometimes it takes a few hrs, sometimes a few days, but it does go away. Put it back into 4x4 and it goes away. Any ideas? I know the YJ is vaccuum disconnect, I looked at the lines briefly and they looked fine, but didnt get in there and move anything too much yet, but is their any other suggestions? I put new U-joints in both the front and rear shafts last winter, and just greased them again.

think about installing a 4x4 posi-lok. this replaces those crappy vacuum lines with a cable that engages and disengages your front axle. I have installed one on my 95 yj and it works great.
