synthetic oil switch

I have 119,000 on my 93 XJ. I've been using castrol gtx. I know it's better to start using synthetic at lower milage. would it be a good idea to switch to royal purple at my milage. And if it's ok, would it be worth it. thanks

It will not hurt anything to switch.

There's a Mobil 1 for high mileage engines. If you make the change don't panic when your first couple of oil changes look very balck, synthetic's can and will break down carbon deposits. When I changed my wifes Benz to synthetic it took a few changes before it cleared up (those were 10qt changes) and lower mileage.
