Can anyone help me - my '04 Jeep frequently cranks for a few seconds before it fires up (some times I have to try several times) - it used to always fire instantly. The dealer tells me the throttle body needs cleaning and wants to charge me a large $ amount to do this. I am able to do most auto related things myself. Has anyone experienced a similar problem
    Thanks

Hmmm. How many miles on it? Is your battery fully charged/in good shape? Original starter? I don't trust dealer's diagnosis'.

Check your fuel pressure. when you turn the key on the pump runs for a short time to charge the line. If your psi is low this could be the cause. Have you had your fuel filter changed?

'04 Wranglers have the fuel pump and filter combined. Is it running rough?

'04 Wranglers have the fuel pump and filter combined. If it runs ok after it starts, you either have a battery/starter problem or a fuel problem. Does it idle in gear fine?
