Detroit Locker??

hey all i got a simple question for ya??my ring gear bolts vibrated out and caused all kinda damage in the rear end.ringgear missing chunks of gear, and pinion gear got chips in it also. so i just tossed out the stock diff and put in a new detroit,not the lunch box locker but the soflocker,along with all new bearings from the pinion to the axles.my ? is do the spacer (washer) behind the c clips go back on when re installing the axles? this just dosent seem logical cause there isnt any room for them, but it seems like there is more movement in and out of the axle compared to when it was stock. is this normal? hope so cause i done put 20,000 miles on it!!!
