Tranny swap

My tranny has taken a dump on me. Mainshaft destroyed and my bearings are toast. It was a T-5. I can either rebuild it or look for a better tranny. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on a replacement tranny. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a T-18. It has to be a manual tranny and a good match to my 258. Any ideas? Would it be practical to have no overdrive?

One possibility. but you need an adapter. AX-15 maybe?
Most any swap is going to need drive shaft work.
