  • Superior Full Float Dana 44 Kit

Just got the new 4 Wheel Drive and SUV last night. In there was an article about Superior having a Full Float kit for the Rubicon Dana 44 Rear. Kit comes in 30, 33, 35 spline versions using a Dana 60 hub.

Big Pat up at drivetrain direct showed me a similar front kit 3 or so years back, it replaced the front d30, tj d44 front unit hub with a D60 unit, scary strong as it would take 35 spline shafts..... at least that's what I remember. My brain isn't what it used to be.....
Mighty 4 banger YJ, 35's,4.88's, 30 splines, Detroits, 4.5" lift, TJ flares, Scorpion Offroad stuff, blah, blah, blah.

Busy ain't the word for it ! How the Heck is everybody ? :shades: :hat: :yay: ?

I've been building this setup for a while now to work with the stock rear disc brakes .

Just got back from SEMA and it is being well received , I will be happy to answer ?'s you might have .

I do still lurk the bards ocasionally , We are finally going to get DSL at the shop and I will be able to pop on more frequently . It has taken forever (and a ton of $$) to get someone to pull wire and phonelines that are not from the 1940's so I could sign on faster than 24k

Hey Jim, one question. Is it only available in 5 x 5.5?

                  Thanks,

Yes I know what the other forums have said but there is nothing like hearing it straight from the person that made it.

Ok Jim, where can I buy the kit.

Have been looking at the Warn, but your's sounds better and I could not find on Superior's website.

why would you want a full float kit on a tj 44?

                              1. if you run locking hubs they will be far weaker than flanged axles. breaking a rear hub is a good way to break a detroit locker.

                              2. we have been running TJ 44's for a long time and the only breakage we ever see is twisted splines on the shafts. These splines are the same...

Superior also sells 5 on 5.5 flanged shafts for this same axle and they only cost about $270. These are a bit stronger and if you are breaking them, you need a bigger axle.
It's not what you have. it's what you do with what you have.
