4.0 auto tranny

Hey guys my auto tranny im pretty sure isnt right, my jeep is a almost stock 02 wrangler x.

driving around it fells way under powered (31s with 3.73 or .92 i for get)
and when i drop gear it does nothing but rev and at about 4k rpm its like i hit the rev limiter. But it almost feels like the TC locking and un locking. am i on crack?????? checked the fluid and its perfect. any ideas????

i just realized this is in the wrong forum, sorry guys.

check the "kick down cable" if this engine and tranny are equipt. with one....doubt it but if there is it is located on the throttle linkage at the throttle body.
