  • Need help with TJ Electrical Problem.

Hello, I have a problem with my 1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ. I
spoke to Chrysler and a Service Manager said that it was a
problem with a ground in the Dash Board. Anyway here
are the symptoms: While driving down the road, the RPM
Gauge, Speedometer and the rest of the gauges shut down
with no power to them. Also the Mileage Display show
“no bus. After a while, it all comes back and then may
shut down again. Has anyone experienced this problem,
and, if so, how was it corrected? Also, is the only way to
correct this do I have to have the Dash Dismantled or is
there a quick and easy patch for this?

    Thanks.

Very common problem. It can be fixxed in about 15 minutes.

Remove the guage cluster (really easy) and take a pair of needle nose plyers and very gently twist (slightly) the connectors. Replace the cluster. I did this 3 years ago and have had no problems.

Thanks for this info. Would this not have to come from one bad connection since all gauges go
bad at the same time? Are you saying to tighten up the connections to each gauge?
