    What year / years did the 4 banger engine get "as good as it can be" ?, from the factory that is.

    I had a 90 and a 95 and they were both 2.5's. I did not notice any difference in either...maybe a newer one is a bit better, but the 2.5 was kind of an indestructible GM motor...very reliable.
