  • Need Front Driveshaft shop recommendation for Burbank area....

I have my 2006 LJ with about a 6 inch lift and the front driveshaft is loose and very noisey so time to replace it. I need a new one and live in the Burbank area now. Does any one have a recommendation for getting a new one locally? I have a quote of 600 installed but it seems a little steep considering Tom Woods is like 349.00 for one.

    Thanks for the help...

Buy a TW and install it yourself. His shipping is pretty fast too.

      Katherin,

I also recommend the Tom Woods driveshaft. There are only eight bolts (four at each end). The first time you try to remove them, the bolts may be rusted on, so you may need to spray them with PB Blaster. After that, Tom Woods recommends that you grease the U-joints regularly, and I find that it is easier to do if you remove the driveshaft, so the bolts won't be likely to give you any trouble in the future.

If you can remove and replace the driveshaft, and you don't want to buy one from Tom Woods, you can get a driveshaft from Wenco Industries in Van Nuys. You will have to do the replacement yourself.

If you don't want to remove and install the driveshaft yourself, then see Mike at Four X Doctor in Burbank.

If you don't like the way I drive, stay out of the bushes!
