Just want to check, aren't TJ Rubicon 4.10's thick gears that can mount to the 3.73 and higher carriers? From a strength standpoint, is there any advantage or disadvantage to using the higher carrier?

Yes the rubi gears are thick 4.10's, can run them in 3.73-3.08 dana 44 carriers.
I run the thick rubi's in my rear 44, retained the stock carrier the only mod was drilling each ring gear hole bigger to fit the larger bolts that are required.
strength wise there is not noticeable difference. there may be a tiny difference but nothing i ever researched before doing it mentioned it."It's Not Rocket Surgery"
