I am thinking about putting a 318 in my '93 wrangler, i will be changing out the trany and t-case. What would be some good sugestions for diff. gears, will i be able to upgrade the gears and axles with out changing the housings?

You can change out the gears in your axles without changing housings. A gear shop will charge you about $250 per axle for the labor. The gears themselves typicaly cost about $150 and new bearings and shims will be another $50. Sometimes it is easier to find a set of axles from a salvage yard. If you can find a four cylinder YJ with a manual transmission it will typicly have 4.10 gears. 4.10 gears are very close to stock final drive ratio with 33 inch tires. Check out this chart on gear ratios.
