I am goin nuts tryin to figure out this sound..a while back I added a rear coil relocation kit to my 04 rubi which has made a huge difference in handling but i suspect after re-adjusting the rear driveshaft (CV) i am noticing this sound on acceleration.......if i lower the pinion anymore i get a duller lower clunking.....any thought? I did remove the driveshaft and it moves freely and is greased.....

What does the pinion angle look like now? I had a driveshaft make a horrid noise, swapped it for a spare and noise went away. The DS was tight and freshly rebuilt a while back. That would be my first bet.

so I have checked my angles and the driveshaft is at 18 and axle at 17......i guess i check the ujoints and CV? Still get that metallic clacking especially when i get on the gas. It may be time for someone more experienced!! I am missing too much wheeling!!!! If anyone knows of a reputable 4wheel shop near Sherman Oaks I'd appreciate any recommendations!

It's genera;;y the centering ball and the cup it runs in that fails when you run it much after that, the needle bearing in the centering ball will fail and destroy the centering pin. That is when it gets costly if you continue on from there the whole thing will weld it self together and on a front shaft it will break the transfercase and do a whole lot of damage
