loud squealing noise

noticed a loud squealing noise usually upon start up when the squealing occurs i find that the alternator doesnt charge any ideas?

Either the serpentine belt is slipping, or you have a pig in your engine compartment

Mine did the same, changed the belt and all was good.

i had the same problem, granted mine is a 2.5L but what i found was one of my idler pullies was out of grease the the bearings were running on the race with no lube. try and push down the belt, or take the tension off and spin all the idlers to see if any of them make a sqeak. also my gmc jimmy 4.3L vortec made a similar noise, changed the alternator and poof noise gone, hope that helps.
