  • 5.3 Vortec Gen III

After 12 years of all original miles on my 97TJ I am starting the process of a swaping out the R.I.P. 2.5banger for a 5.3 Vortec Gen III next week.
Will have general comments and pics soon.

Good luck my friend. I swapped a Vortec V6 in to my CJ and it was quite the task but well worth it. Look forward to your write up.

Sounds pretty sweet! Are you going to use the stock computer and engine harness or are you going to a standalone?

            Thanks ALL!

The shop acquired new harness and computer from Howell Industries.

Completed last february. first run moab EJS poison spider, Area BFE, Rusty Nail, Golden Trails.
Wish I would have done this earlier on! Enjoy driving it around town, highway as well offroad capabilities are significant.
No major problems. Both new computer and original are used. Original for stock instrument panel items and the Howell for all else.
Need to hook up emmissions other than that it rocks
