  • loooong starting renix swap

I have a renix swap that takes a long time to start. It will hit and miss for several seconds before it starts then runs fine.
does this sound like a sync/cam sensor? fuel pressure is fine.

it cranks for aobut 30 seconds before it fires. longer starts on first startup per key on.

    Thanks

I guess during the long crank time it would not hurt to check for spark, by leaving one sparkplug wire off same goes for putting a noid light on one of the injector plugs. If it follows Chryslers common way of doing things the problem might be in the ASD relais not energizing. This powers the ignition and some other goodies. If it does not see a cranck signal from the crank sensor it will not energize. That or there is a problem with the ecm simply not energizing the relais. Is not all that uncommon a failure

you can test the speed/crank sensor with an ohm meter.
      200 +/- 75 ohms, warm engine, between terminals A and B.
Fuel pressure about 31 lbs with vac hose at regulator connected at idle.
about 39 lbs with vac hose removed from regulator.

inputs to computer during cranking are:
      coolant temp
      manifold air temp
      MAP or manifold pressure
      TPS throttle position sensor
      starter relay
      speed/crank sensor
      Sync signal from distributor
      battery voltage

My experience with the system is that the only sensors that won't allow the engine to start are the speed sensor and the MAP sensor; you can unplug them and no start.
The others aren't as critical and the engine will eventually start.

        Thanks
I hope to have a chance to mess with it this weekend.

It turned out to be the fuel pump.

            Thanks
