auto tranny

well ive got a th350 tranny that i plan on dropping into my jeep when i do the 350 conversion. so heres the question, i was told that i cant put a tranny from a 2wd into a 4wd? the "source" told me that it would never bolt up to the transfer case, i dont see why not but im just here a verify.
oh and what kind of transfercase should i go with?? the np231 isnt strong enough.

2wd has a different tailshaft than a 4wd. It's not a direct bolt on but it can be done. Check out Advanceadapters.com. Depending on your resources, it may be cheaper to go get a 4wd th350 than to get that adapter kit.
