np231 kicks out of 2 wheel drive

my np231 is kickin out of 2 wheel drive now all of a sudden. i cant figure it out. my linkage doesnt seem too bad, and its been fine for a while/hasnt given me any recent problems- i just installed the AA shift bracket kit. but just the other day driving on the street all of a sudden it kicked out of 2 wheel drive, and i have to pull my shift lever up slightly to get it to engage again. thats whats confuses me. it engages in all 4 locations (including N). on the last jeep run it kept kickin out of 4Low too tho. im at a loss. someone help.
