  • YJ SUA Axle Swaps

I having been looking for Wrangler axle swap info but the only write ups deal with converting to SOA(with the exeption of the Ford 8.8). Anyone swapped in other axles retaining the SUA set-up? I was thinking about Scout or Wagoneer axles with a passenger drop diff and swapping in one of my T18/Dana 20 set-ups.

Waggy axles go into YJs all the time. It's a very popular setup. There is some modding to be done if you use the waggy springs, but you will have more flex than YJ springs can bring to the table.

Now that you mention that I remember reading about swapping Waggy springs into CJ's for more flex. As I recall it was the longer springs that made the difference. I still haven't found any web write-ups on Waggy axles in a Wrangler other than SOA.

You would actually want SOA in that setup. The shackles attach to the face of your crossmembers. With SOA, you can use bigger tires without the use of over-arc'd springs. It's really easy to find stock size waggy springs for cheap. It's not as easy to find lifted waggy springs for cheap. If you're flexing enough to need waggy springs, chances are you'll need to replace them every so often.
