I'm not a fan either, but I'm wondering what's taking Allen so long to chime in. I know he has it and hasn't had any trouble with it.
swbooking... where are you?!?!?! :confused:If we aren't supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?

I don't know why the hole would have to perfectly centered. The flange that the driveshaft mounts to slides onto the spline of the shaft, the hole is just for the bolt that holds the flange on. I'm not sold on getting one either but for someone that doesn't want to open up their Tcase it could be a good option and don't all SYE's have a hole in the end?

I had never heard of the Hack N Tap but was checking it out and found this page. It has good info and some pics.

Very easy install. Not hard to get the hole centered. Cutting the output is easy. Just lift your jeep, remove DS, start engine, put tranny in reverse to let the shaft spin at idle, use a cut off wheel on an angle grinder and cut at your marks. Very simple. It is a good kit for someone that doesn't want to spend a lot of money.1994 Toyota, dual cases, 5.29 axles with ARB's

I know my Jeep has 2 driveshafts. How many does your have? The OP is free to do whatever he pleases. He asked for opinions, I offered mine. Apparently mine is wrong."The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."

I'll chime in; The replacement shaft in most fixed yoke kits is stronger than the stock shaft, in some cases eliminates needle bearings that can go bad, and every time they require you to "crack the case" you get a chance to inspect the guts and fix stuff before things go wrong. I would recommend looking at the parts list before you crack the case and replace stuff that may have worn more than you like while the case is on the bench.
and it really seems crazy to do this yerself, but it really isn't that bad. I did it, you can do it. :2::gun: my rifle is not illegal, it's just undocumented... :gun:

Not to scare you too much, but see what can happen if you do end up with a bent transfer case output shaft (non-HD versions are more likely to bend).

Again, read the disclaimer on that thread... that JF vendor has sold many hack-n-tap kits and have no other reports of this type of failure, but it was good enough for me to spend the dough on a real SYE kit.If we aren't supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?
