  • To weld? Or not to weld?

    Hey guys,
I have a 93 YJ with a 4.5" spring-under setup. I am in-between jobs at the moment and I would like to finish my PSC ram assist steering.

My question is: I have heard various opinions about welding a bracket to the diff housing of your front axle. What is the truth behind all of it???
Should I or should I not weld a bracket to it?
Should I have a "Professional" weld it for me?

I have seen stuff like this on other websites:

This would be an ideal set-up for my Jeep.
    Money pit!

Clean up the weld area really good, then weld with good penetration, but do not over head the area this can make the case housing brittle. You should be fine. I welded mine just like the photo when I did my hi-steer on my Dana 30. It's really nice and clean and got rid of those nasty looking clamp ons.
