  • Soft Top Zipper Repair?

My zipper slider thingamabob broke in half today. My rear window is no longer in place, leaving the Jeep non-weather tight, and it's going to rain this week....

This it the part that broke, the slider body just fell into two pieces:

I have no idea how to repair this, or who to take it too if a shop is required.

    Any suggestions?

I would find someone that does boat canvas work in your area.

I've got one I can mail you. Not sure it will work, but if you can figure out how to get it back on, it's yours.

I got a "trail top" for free. It had zippers on both sides for the rear windows, yet the rear side windows I have only need a zipper on one side (one window has a zipper on it, not the top). To save the windows in favor of the top, I cut off the "stop" for the zipper, and pulled it off. Threw it in the parts drawer.

PM me your address and I'll drop it in the mail, or let me know if you'll be in North San Diego county this week.

Bestop is the OEM for Jeep. If you can find someone who has a spare slider it should fit. The other method I've had to use in the past is to trim the zipper out and go to Jo Ann fabrics and buy a sleeping bag zipper or parka zipper and sew it in on the original zipper body. It's redneck, but it works.

Materdaddy, thank you VERY much for your offer, but I'm going to try the e-Bay kit for now.

I had a broken zipper. I took it to a luggage repair shop. They replaced the zipper for a fraction of the price of replacing the window. You might give it a try.
              Good Luck
It was like that when I got here.
