  • Another kill switch

I feel bad that Jerry's stolen Jeep post got side tracked. So hopefully every one will focus all these comments here instead.

I picked one of these up for just $25 on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-R...Q5fAccessories A simple option to help keep a Jeep (or your next Jeep) from being driven away, of course there is not much from stopping it from being towed.

So this is the actual Ravelco product. I dont know how many he has left, but it cost $470 per the Ravelco website to install. I have installed this on two vehicles myself & happy with the purchase. Just purchased two more for a couple of vehicles I plan on getting in the future. To make myself feel good after doing some calculations, I saved $1,762 by getting four of these on ebay.

Hope this can help save a Jeep or two from being seperated from its owner.

I sent a few email's with the link. I also hope it saves a few Jeeps and keeps them in the garage or driveway.

Did you install yours already? If so, how was it? It looks simple. Waiting for mine to come.

I bought one as soon as somebody posted the link on JB's thread. It already arrived today! I'm really thinking about buying one or two more at that price!

Mine shipped today. So what's the deal with these? What circuits do we tap? What do we do with the little round dealie when we pull it out? Any chance it will fall out on it's own?

          Bad link

          Josh,

The link above is dead or it might have been moved, I had to go to ebay and look it up. I typed in a search for "New Ravelco Anti-Theft Device" and it brought it right up.

Anyway's, I jumped on the band wagon and picked one up too, I liked your's the first time I saw it! $32.50 (Total) is a great deal for a little bit more peace of mind!

Really hope'n the wife doesn't kill me....... You understand???

ok i got my ravelco in the mail today. Came with instructions. however i'm a bit of a moron with electrical stuff. anyone have a write up? I have a 97 tj for what its worth. please pm me with the instructions if any. thanks.

If i'm not mistaken you just find either your pcm or fuel pump or fuel injector controller and cut the wires and tie the ravelco into it to make a circuit and use the short wire as a ground...

any help is appreciated. thanks guys.

and for what its worth, it seems RIDICULOOUS to pay 500+ for this thing. its a cannon plug with a grounded cannon plug cap and wires to tie into a circuit. thats it.
1st batch TJ bought August of 96. Locked and Loaded!

You're not mistaken. You just tap into certain circuits and the plug will short them appropriately.

From my prior reading on the revelco system, it seems like the whole point is to use whatever circuits you want and you cut into them so they're broken circuits. The circuits are brought to the face of the plug, and only when your plug is in, it connects those circuits for your vehicle to run

Each ravelco plug and cap are different and paired to one-another. That means when I plug my revelco cap on your revelco system it will (should?) not work. Trying that could short something that shouldn't be shorted, since the pin-outs will be different, so don't try plugging in the wrong ones.

Add another one purchased. Great piece of mind for only $25. Thanks for the link snydercj7.

As for the write up. I for one wouldn't want to post on a public forum how I wired my anti theft device so I don't think there will be too many write ups on installing it. Seems pretty straight forward like Mat has mentioned.

                  Try this link...

                  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=230352104698

Randy the guy selling the product is very helpful if you have any questions. He sends out info on wiring this for numerous vehicles. I needed info for a 91 civic & he sent me additional info for that vehicle & with the help of a manual it went in fairly easy. Basically you can use the device to open any two ckts you want to stop working when you pull the plug.

The "loop back plug" that is used to complete the circuit when not plugged in the vehicle it has a quick release that it hooks to on your key chain. A little bulky but better then the alternative?

This morning their were 27 left in his stock.

As for no write-ups, make sure you hide the spot you put the plug. I assume, behind the plug there is two wires that could could be brought together and it would complete the circuit (with or without the cap). No need to find where you tapped into the fuel injection or fuel pump.
The auction didn't get closed, the link was bad. The link in the original post in this thread contained "..." in the text. That means the OP copy/pasted the anchor text (not the anchor itself) from the other thread. By default vBulliten will truncate links (adding "..." in the middle) when anchor text is too long.

                    See the difference?

The combinations of the lines to fix the circuit is numerous (I count 16 pins, meaning 8 different connections. That yields 40,320 different possible plugs if I remember permutation math correctly). Not to mention, the wires are black, and enter the plug via about a 12" metal wire loom sheath. That means it's basically up to how it's installed. If you have the wires from the engine compartment enter that metal sheeth properly and route things the correct way, you have many multiples of connections that could have been done, so you cannot simply "connect them right by the plug".

It could be that a public forum isn't the best place to discuss the particulars of how to wire these things. I suspect that anyone targeting Jeeps is likely to read forums, and not only that, they're going to be doing online research about Ravelco and other means of theft prevention. This stuff will come up high in a Google search.

                          X2 inVert'd!! Well put!

:shout: I whole heartedly agree that this fourm is not the place to discuss the methods used or to debunc the possible wiring configurations to your anti-theft divice! I'm sure the wiring diagram given will answer any questions that might arise! ...and as Josh said before, I'm sure a quick call to the seller for further direction would not be a problem!

Besides.... I'd much rather a woodbe thief not know I even have this thing installed.... besides it gives me a few more minutes to grab the pistola and make him wish he never tried! :gun:

I would have to agree if MJR was the only online jeep forum. But, it's not.

But, for those who think "black helicopters" follow them, I will not help and say.."hide the kill button" and why. I deleted previous post.

                              Respectfully Ron,

It's not about "Black Helicopters"..... It's about not discussing what wires you hook up where and not giving a thief a chance!
