Much later after Zion and Bryce, made a side trip to Kodachrome State Park. Very beautiful and obviously very colorful. Lots of interesting rockformations here. This one was particularly eyecatching. What does it look like to you?

Well, went on the first REAL road trip with the Jeep. It was a bit off-road but not too challenging. First stop was Toroweap on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Very isolated and so little traffic that they do not even bother to collect admission fees.

The view from the overlook is pretty spectacular. 3000 feet across and about the same...straight down. No guard rails. There is a campsite about 20 yards from where this photo was taken. Feel free to use it but make sure you bring your headlamp when you wake up in the middle of the night for an outhouse visit.

The campsite was very quiet and secluded. Jeeping lets you bring a lot more gear than you could if you were backpacking but it was still a bit tight.

Extra gas meant we could take a sidetrip to Nampaweap which had an amazing petroglyph wall. Imagine a 100 foot long basalt wall with images like this packed in nearly every available space. These are dated to around 10000 years old.
