  • Joining the Jeep ranks !!!

    I just recently purchased a Cherokee !!!
So far I have only begun to fix things the previous owner
screwed up slowly but surely though...I cant complain though
for 350.00,It has a clean body some dents and I need to replace several U-joints and possibly the engine and clutch/syncro's.

My plan's for the Jeep are as follows (it will be basicly be a weekend veh):

    6 inch lift
32/11.5/15 inch tires (not sure what make though)
and whatever else I run into and learn about.

My other weekend veh is a 99 SVT Contour with the 3L/Hybrid swap and almost all bolt-ons available.

Pics will follow as soon as I have time to take some.

Welcome aboard BEVAN. You couldn't have found a better group of people As for the brand of tire, I'd go with the Goodyear MT/Rs..just my opinion. Have fun with your jeep build up.

Also, if you are doing a 6" lift, wouldn't 33 or 35's be better? You can fit more that a 32 under there with 6 inches.

Just a thought. I'll go away now........

There is no absolute due to variance in suspensions, but here are some general guidelines

-- No trimming and no lift, factory wheels
Typically a stock rig can handle 29" tires, MAYBE 30" 235's metric

          -- No trimming, 15x8" Tech1 w/4.75 backspacing --

          With 2" lift = 29 to 30x9.50 tires
          With 3" lift = 30x9.50 tires
          With 4.5" lift = 31x10.50 tires

          -- Minor trimming, 15x8" Tech1 w/4.75 backspacing --

          With 2" lift = 30x9.50 tires
          With 3" lift = 30x9.50 to 31x10.50 tires
          With 4.5" lift = 31x10.50 to 32x11.50 tires
          With 6" lift = 33x12.50 tires
Sorry to burst your bubble, but you're probably thinking of a TJ. hehe (Don't worry I always do the same thing too)

You cant stuff bigger tires with the same lift size on XJ's or ZJ's

my plan is 4.5" with 33s but i know ill be hackin fenders. so with a 6" lift i think you should be putting AT LEAST 33s other wise its a waste. i would say 6" and trim to fit 35s with bumpstops, and the right wheel backspacing. that little lift and tire chart is meant for rims with 4.75 i think youd be better of with a 4.5" or even a 4" BS....there is a TON of info in suspension techwww.myjeeprocks.com everything there is very helpful. also on welcome to MJR!!! and i hope we can offer all the help you need!

I will definately have to agree with this one, with that much lift you need to chop a little sheet metal for the 35s.
