Don't toss that oil bath air filter, there are guys looking for those who are doing stock restorations. When are you taking it out?

Oh no, I'm not throwing anything away. :-) I'll hang on to anything I remove, in case I ever want to put it back on, or decide to sell it. I wonder how effective that oil bath filter is? there was a bit of crud in the oil, but not really that much. But then again, i don't know how long ago it was cleaned.
Not sure when I'll be taking it to any trails. They will probably have to be easy trails, maybe some trails in Frazier Park would be a nice place to start, once it gets warmer up there.Redneck Driveway Fab

Not sure if folks here will like this or be offended by it, but I really like the MB grills, and swapped one out onto my 2a. Very easy swap! I was able to re-use the signal lights and the rope/gasket where the hood rests on the grill. I pulled a dumbass move and drove it to the grocery store tonight... and got pulled over. HAH! Only a warning though, so that's good.

Hm... I doubt it was him, he's not done much offroading in that thing, it's not been ready.
Earlier this year we tried to take it up to some trails in Frazier Mountain, but the carb wouldn't run well even on mild inclines. He got that taken care of, then we put some new suspension on it because the tires were rubbing real bad on the fenders earlier this year. He still needs to extend the brake lines before he does any offroading, so I doubt it was him. If it was him, I'd be surprised. I'll ask him :-)
Was he wearing a cowboy hat?Redneck Driveway Fab

Went for a nice sunday drive in the malibu hills, the weather is perfect!
I think I may ditch the mechanical fan and put in a good electric fan. Going up hill the engine temperature started getting hotter. It didn't overheat, but I can imagine if I'm offroad in the desert going real slow, it may have trouble keeping cool. maybe an electric fan would do better.

you know I really have no idea what thermostat is in there, or anything about the radiator. If the radiator isn't original, it's a same-spec replacement I think.
The temperature is just fine while driving around town, even in stop & go traffic, it's just fine. But granted, here on the west side of LA by the coast, it's not very hot out. It's when I get offroad (going slow, in the heat) or going up a long steep hill that I notice the temperature rising.
I suppose I should maybe have the radiator flushed, put new fluid in there and check the thermostat before I do anything? No clue how old the fluid is either.Redneck Driveway Fab
