  • Jack Handle (central AZ) 9-6

A couple of us are getting together for a morning run up Jack Handle (Florence area).

This is a short trail, and we plan to be heading home by noon. Meeting spot is @ the staging area on Cottonwood Canyon Rd. (right off of hwy 89).

Bring at least 31" tires and a locker......

Dude! There is so much awesome 'wheeling out here....

Since it was going to be pretty humid today, we decided to run upper woodpecker instead of Jack handle. Jack handle was much farther back into the hills than woodpecker.....

Woodpecker is a cool trail too. We bypassed the Firehole, but hit most of everything else.

There were a few moments when we were worried about rolling my jeep and the FJ that was with us (we put a tag line on the FJ---he doesn't like off camber stuff), and my spotter tells me I got the jeep pretty much vertical in the last chute.....it didn't feel that bad, but apparently it looked that bad. We'll see how the pics turn out before I make final judgement.

Anyway, I give the trail a thumbs up!

Next week we are thinking about running the 'gap down here in tucson to survey the fire damage.
