  • State Route 330 - Escorts Begin

    From CALTRANS

San Bernardino County – Slope repair continues day and night on
State Route 330. Department of Transportation, Caltrans, announces
that escorts are beginning. Starting Wednesday, August 23, 2006,
escorts will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seven days a
week thru September 4, 2006. The escorts will be conducted via a
reversible traffic control using a pilot car and flag persons.
Escorts on State Route 330 will be limited to vehicles weighing less
    than five tons.

Due to continued attention to public and worker safety, Caltrans
will utilize a slope spotter to ensure that the road conditions
continue to be safe. If there are visible signs of slope movement or
rock fall, escorts will be terminated without notice until the route
is deemed safe. Motorists are advised that slow moving concrete
trucks delivering concrete to the project site will not use the
turnouts while traveling uphill. The concrete must be delivered to
the project site in a timely manner. Caltrans would like to thank
motorists for their continued patience during construction while we
    repair the slope and roadway.

Repairs on SR-330 began on July 26, 2006. The $7.5 million project
is expected to last for approximately 90-days with a 53-day closure
of SR-330 included within the 90-day work period. Caltrans reminds
the public that businesses are open and accessible either with the
    escorts or with short detours:

To Crestline, Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, and Green Valley
Lake – take SR-30 to SR-18 (Waterman Avenue) and go north.

To Big Bear and Fawnskin – take I-10 to Redlands and exit at Orange
Street. From eastbound I-10 exit, go to second signal and turn left
on Orange St. Travel about one mile to Lugonia Ave. and turn right.
Lugonia Ave. and Orange Street are SR-38. Continue on SR-38 uphill
to Big Bear and Fawnskin or take SR-18 to Big Bear Lake.

The public is advised that due to the nature of this project,
unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather or slope
instability may result in the adjustment of the project schedule.

always remember to slow for the cone zone. Lives depend on it!"
