Here is some clarification for a question that many of you have been asking
regarding whether dispersed camping is still allowed with the new fire
restrictions at "Very High". The answer is yes. The Forest Order does not
restrict dispersed camping. The fire brochure is a general guideline for
restrictions, however, the line officer may make adjustments when they sign
a forest order. Some of our new fire signing in the field says that
dispersed camping is not allowed, and perhaps, the staff could find a
simple way to modify their signs by covering those words so that they do
not confuse the public. As we move into opening weekend of deer hunting
season, we all need to have the same message from the visitor centers to
the volunteers, partners and field staff.
