  • Ocotillo Wind Farm Petition to stop construction

Not that I'm against green energy but this is just another government bank rolled mess. This area is a BLM limited use area, with over 12,000 acres and 110 Wind Turbines . Wont be much wheeling if completed

    Heres the BLM approval

    More information below. Worth reading.

So one megawatt can power 1000 homes for 1 hour given a 30 second internet search. So a 315 megawatt power plant can power 315,000 homes for 1 hour. The questions are how many homes will this plant power? How many American jobs will be created and will this plant continue to sustain over the life of the power plant? How much power i.e. Diesel and gas powered vehicles will it take to level the ground, and dig the footings for these items? How much fuel will be consumed and exported into our atmosphere to create and fill these holes. How much concrete will be poured and where will it come from? where will the exported dirt go? How much metal will be used as reinforcement for these footings and where will this metal be made and what area will the production of this metal pollute? How much maintenance will each item need per year and where will that money come from? What are the chemicals used to maintain such a structure, grease, petroleum, what and how much per item?

I don’t have the answer to any of these questions but some research may be in order to present in front of a board for an opertunity to stop something like this.

I coming from a construction background would be all over this project to keep my men busy in this crap construction econ we are in. But at what cost do we build “GREEN” energy and how GREEN is it really over the life of the structure?

Thanks that is just how my mind works. I always wonder about how much pollution comes from something like this before it ever even starts to power a home. You ever drive down the 15 FWY when they were building all those track homes and see the dark brownish-grey cloud above 25 plus Earth-Scrapers just to grade the 5 blocks of homes. Same Idea.

This isn't about jobs as much as the next threat to our open spaces...Wind Farms. Look at the fine mess out in Palm Springs. These would look great all over Johnson Valley!

Who is Pattern Energy? Ugly but true.

Regarding Big Horn Sheep, this is just getting worse:

May 19, 2012 (Ocotillo) -- In a precedent that has horrified wildlife experts, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has authorized the “take” (meaning harassment, displacement or even death) of 10 endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep – five ewes and five lambs.
