        from the ASA ( American Sand Association)

        ASA News : SMALL VICTORY FOR OHV
        YOUR VOICE DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!

        Dear ASA Member;

        Friday, we received the following letter from the California Governor in which he reduced the raid on OHV trust fund money from $21,000,000 to $7,000,000. While we are still against the spending of even one dime of the OHV Trust Fund on anything other than OHV recreation, we are happy to have had such a significant reduction.

        This small victory is the result of efforts by the American Sand Association, our Lobbyist, and several other OHV organizations working together to mitigate this flawed concept. The collective voice, and individual efforts through phone calls, letters, and emails by our ASA members and the members of our allied OHV groups made a difference, and forced the Governor to make a difficult decision that we're sure won't be looked upon as favorably by those who see the OHV trust fund as a cash cow to be raided for their own special interests.

        The result of this decision is that OHV programs such as Medical, Law Enforcement, Maintenance, and Operations should continue at levels similar to previous years.

        The ASA thanks every one of you who responded to our call for letters and phone calls to your legislators. Your voice does make a difference!

          http://www.sfgate.com/politics/artic...al-3723294.php

          The director of California's state parks department resigned, her deputy was fired and the state attorney general launched an investigation Friday after state officials said the agency hid a surplus of $33.4 million in the Off Highway Vehicle Fund.

          I wonder if we will be getting our green sticker money back that moonbeam just stole?

              That's nothing, state agencies had probably $150 billion socked away in offshore accounts, etc., as of about 1992. Probably the only thing the general public ever heard about that was when Orange County made the news in 1998 for losing several billion in arbitrage.

              The more you know about government, the harder it is to distinguish it from organized crime.
