The Grapevine Adventure Association to hold Public Lands OHV Expo
The Grapevine Adventure Association will hold a Public Lands OHV Expo
at Brento's Cycle Center on Saturday, May 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00
p.m.
"The recent closure of private lands in northeast Bakersfield used by
the local OHV (Off Highway Vehicle) enthusiast community has many
people wondering where they can safely and legally enjoy responsible
OHV recreation," says Michael Berg, executive director. "The
Grapevine Adventure Association has organized the Public Lands OHV
Expo, in conjunction with public lands agencies in Kern County, to
answer these questions."
The United States Forest Service - Los Padres National Forest at the
Mt. Pinos Ranger District, Kern County Sheriff Jawbone Canyon OHV
Patrol, California State Parks - Hungry Valley State Vehicular
Recreation Area, and the Bakersfield Police Department OHV Patrol
will be in attendance to provide OHV maps, Tread Lightly OHV Ethics
Guidelines, complimentary vehicle sound checks, spark arrestor
certification and displays, and Take Pride in America Volunteering
opportunities on public lands.
An opportunity drawing for a 2004 Honda CRF-50 will be held ($5.00
donation per ticket, 5 tickets for a $20.00 donation) to support The
Grapevine Adventure Association's efforts to support stewardship of
Kern County's public lands. All donations are tax deductible. Food
will be available from Champs BBQ at the Expo.
The Grapevine Adventure Association is a non-profit corporation,
based in Frazier Park, Calif., that develops programs that promote
stewardship of public lands, foster citizen involvement in public
land planning, and encourage investment in public lands as a way of
supporting local community development. The GAA focuses its
activities in the Mt. Pinos Ranger District of the Los Padres
National Forest and the California State Hungry Valley Vehicular
Recreational Area.
