Dear Volunteer,
Thank you for signing up to become a Volunteer in the local
fire-relief efforts. With your help we can restore forest areas
damaged by the fall fires of 2003. It is with great pleasure that we
announce the following events:
Student Conversation Association
California Wildfire Recovery Project
"helping recovery take root"
Event Dates and Times:
Saturday - February 21, 2004
10am to 3pm
Volunteer orientation at 10 am and 1pm
Project Description:
Volunteers will be led by Conservation Interns from the Student
Conservation Association and will work on a variety of erosion
control and fuel modification projects. Training is provided.
Saturday - February 28, 2004
10am to 3pm
Volunteer orientation at 10 am and noon
Appreciation barbeque at 2pm
Project Description:
Project Leaders from the Student Conservation Association will direct
Home Depot employees and other community volunteers in a variety of
erosion control and fuel modification measures. Project training will
be provided on-site.
Note: This volunteer event will be followed by an appreciation
barbeque to thank volunteers and welcome 6 SCA Conservation Interns
to the California Wildfire Recovery Project.
Thursday - March 4, 2004
10am to 3pm
Volunteer orientation at 10 am and 1pm
Project Description:
Project Leaders from the Student Conservation Association will direct
Home Depot employees and other community volunteers in a variety of
erosion control and fuel modification measures. The project will also
include site preparations for a "fire safe" demonstration garden.
Project training will be provided on-site.

San Bernardino County Regional Parks
2555 Glen Helen Parkway, San Bernardino, CA 92407
Directions:
Take the Devore Road/Glen Helen Park exit at the northern junction of
Interstate 15 and Interstate 215 in San Bernardino. Heading south on
Devore Road, the park is on the left. Use gate #3, park near the pool
facility.
# of volunteers needed: 20+
Skill level: All levels are needed; children are welcome to
participate with proper supervision
What to wear/bring:
q Work boots or sturdy footwear
q Long pants and long-sleeved shirt
q Sunscreen
q A hat
q Water bottle
q Volunteers may also bring a shovel, pruning loppers and/or a bow
saw, clearly labeled with your name
