Funny you should ask, as I spoke to my friend Cass regarding this subject just the other night. I will post a more complete update later, but here is what I know. A decision has been made NOT to rebuild the site and to remove anything "dangerous" from the site. A safe rebuild would require new footings. etc and this was not something the Park Service wanted to do. Baker Ranch WILL remain open for people to visit. There is discussion of adding some "interpretive panels" to the site, likely to discuss the origins of the structures, the Bakers and the connection to the Manson clan. I am currently unsure as to the time frame for the panels, but I believe that some of the clean-up has taken place. I am also unsure at this time as to whether or not the Park Sercice will be looking for help from the public with this effort. I will find out some more info and post it up ASAP.
