BLM TO HOST PUBLIC WORKSHOP ON VEHICLE ROUTE DESIGNATIONS
The U. S. Bureau of Land Management's Redding Field Office will host a public workshop Wednesday, Feb. 18, to get public suggestions for vehicle road and trail designations on BLM-managed public lands.
The session runs from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Redding Field Office, 355 Hemsted Dr.
In the workshop, participants can examine maps showing road and trail designations and off highway vehicle routes. BLM staff will be available to answer questions and to accept comments on the designations.
BLM Off Highway Vehicle Coordinator Sky Zaffarano said comments are particularly needed for areas needing new route designations including public lands in the Interlakes Special Recreation Management Area between Lake Shasta and French Gulch, and BLM-managed lands in Shasta County west of French Gulch.
Participants also will be able to review and comment on areas where route designations were previously established, including the Sacramento River Bend, Grass Valley, Swasey Drive and Clear Creek areas. Zaffarano said the BLM needs public comments before the agency begins the process to amend the Redding Resource Management Plan to incorporate the route designations.
For more information, contact Zaffarano or Bill Kuntz at the Redding Field Office, (530) 224-2100.
