  • What do you guys want to see?

    Hey All,
As you all know, I'm a freelance writer for Petersen's 4Wheel & Off-Road Magazine. I got the job because originally, Rick was looking for a new full time staffer. He offered me the job, but I did not want to have to commute up to LA all the time, and I definitely don't want to move up there.

Anyway, he is leaning on us freelancers fairly heavily right now to keep the pages filled until he can hire a new full time staffer. So he has asked me to come up with some articles.

Now, coming up (part should arrive today) I am doing a Edelbrock Ti-tech coated header install in my YJ for the mag, and I have contacted Blue Torch Fabworks about the possibility of getting a set of their DIY tube fenders for an article as well.

But I need more stuff and more ideas. I'd love to do some trail rides, but with my current schedule, I have a feeling it would be difficult for me to make events and runs. (though not totally out of the question) so basically I'm looking for tech article ideas.

    so, whatcha guys got?

I can get Jeeperman Ultimate rockers (formerly Rock-It man). I'm sure we can find a TJ or LJ to bolt a set on.

In addition, how about some wheeling articles. I know, as do you, a certain group the frequents JV in the winter.

Above all, I would like to see real vehicles, not huge monsterous piles of shit.

What kind of tech articles do they want? hardcore (welding, fab work)? or like how to change your diff fluid?

my YJ ain't ready for JV just yet. I want to upgrade my front axle first. Just not comfy with the Dana 30s strength.

I agree on the real vehicles though. My goal personally is for every article I write to be relatively low buck and DIY related. I can gaurantee I will never write one of those articles where you get to read about how a pro shop installed something. you will read about how me, or my buddies, or whoever did it in their garage or driveway, or what have you. as for tech, Rick didn't really give me any guidlines. I basically just come up with stuff, float it by him for a ye or ne, and do articles accordingly
