  • Dukes69's Obvious Absence...also entitled Wheres Waldo/Duke?

So ya'll have got to be wondering where Chris got off to...I mean for a guy that posts almost 8 posts a day...hes definitely missing in action...

Well...Chris and his buddies, Fergie and Randy Ferguson went off to Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in attempts to break the land speed record in a few classes...They left on Thursday night and will be back sometime after the weekend of the Aug 23rd.

I dont have any current pictures, but here are a few from past races...

See Chris working on the engine?

See his name under the numbering on the tail?

They already broke one record, doing an amazing average of 265mph on the first run, and maxing out at 285mph on the second...they average the runs together and the record was set at 266.302, beating the old record of 246.052! AWESOME!

Theyve regeared and are going to try to break 300 mph tomorrow...cross your fingers!!

This is better then the disappointment they had on Saturday...where they blew an engine on the first race of the day They were clocked at 212 on the first quartermile and it was downhill from there...or would that be uphill???

Ill keep you all posted...wish him and Ferguson Racing GOOD LUCK!

    Tam

well...Bonneville Speed Week is over on Friday. Chris should be home sometime late on Sunday or possibly Monday.

Today they set another record of 284.876, breaking their previous record of 266. Which is AWESOME, one step closer to the 300mph mark they are shooting for.

I hope to have pics up soon...

Chris called this afternoon to let me know that hes going to get behind the wheel for the first time...WOOOOHOOOO!

He has to make three runs for his licensing... Wish him LUCK!

You have to make three licensing runs to get your racing license.

The first cant be over 150, he did 147, the second he did 185, he really wanted to break 200...

I think hes totally addicted now.

uh oh...I think this may be more expensive then Jeeping...

It sure is, but thats why I race other peoples cars We broke 2 records with a final speed of 284mph and change. we were really shooting for 300, but we sunk some valves in the head on the last run and decided not to chance blowing up the motor. We set it back up on Alcohol and started doing licensing passes. In order to get your licenses, you have to move up in speed slowly . . . 125-150 mph, 150-175mph, 175-200mph, 200-250mph, 250-300mph, and 300+ is unlimited. The fastest I ran was 195 and change and we pushed it back to the line to try and get one more run so I can say I went 200 MPH. I was next to run . . . I was strapped in and ready to go, and a friggin huricane rolled in with 40mph winds and rain. So, I didnt get to go 200 mph, but I sure got close theres always next year. thanks for thinking of me guys and gals

                            hey Erik,
Its a Blast!!!! its extreemly interesting, you actually get more of a sensation driving 100 mph on the freeway then you do driving almost 200 on the salt. Reason is: points of reference. when I'm in the car all I can see are orange signs with mile numbers on them. Thats the only referece I had. But I will tell you this . . . those orange mile markers sure do go by fast
