  • A day in TJ Police station

Over 20 years trucking around TJ, finally got nailed by a Calafia. Thats those friggin buses.Took out the back end of my truck. Ok screw the driver. Lets not negotiate...though the driver wanted to. I was a bit curious how this would roll out. So here comes the TJ police 3 vehicles armed to the teeth. The intial police office was pretty cool. Point one negotiate on the spot..naa not happening this time. Lets go to the "perito" or police judge. Always wanted to get inside closer inside a police station in TJ.

The station in question is one I pass every morning. Theres sand bag renforcements in front with plenty of machine guns here and there. Prob not a good place to go snoop around but hey lets go check it out.

Ok I'm just bad luck, one of our tool makers at the scene of my accident got a ticket for window tinting..hes not a happy camper. I run into him at the station.

Our Quality manager is with me...ok this guy is good, he can bs his way out of rejects this will be interesting.

Police station inside....sort of run down..yeah just what we might expect.....dark rooms, fat guys , big mustaches television with mexican soaps.

While the toolmaker is bribing his way out of the tinted widows..I'm looking at the wanted posters...good none of my employees are on them good thing i guess. The toolmaker walks by me not to happy..guess we'll be paying that off.

I want to do a story take pictures ....thats not going to happen...to much armor and guns..prob dissapear end up on milk carton.

The insurance guy for the calafia shows up...sees a gringo , sees money, we tell him to "f" off...so off to the Perito...opps I'm guilty..screw it how much to fix this friggen bus? 80 buks ( nothing happened to it). Ok we scrapped out apout 70 , they accept, the driver isnt released ..he dont have a drivers licence. His clothing has a lot of drug advertisement on it.

Now I'm told I have a 90 dollor ticket to pay (illeagl turn)..jeese...another 20 spot into another pocket. The calafia driver is locked up.

Body work gonna cost 200 buck to straighten the butt out of my truck..should be interesing to see Monday...

Brilliant investigative journalism! A soviet dissident used to say "To stand for truth is nothing. For truth, you must sit in jail."

      Damn Vern,
I need to hang out with you more. That's the kind of adventure I like. You described the jails in Juarez to a tee. Must be a universal truth in Mexico, ask me how I know! Glad you made it back to the first world...

The accident, I get it. But tinted windows is a crime in Mexico??? Well, I guess it's easier to round up all the tinted window perps than going after the drug cartels....

Tinted windows are more dangerous in Mexico then here.
What if the cartel is inside armed? u cant see them or their weapons...I did get a chance to chat with a couple police...its a dangerous job in mexico.

Where would u vaction? Cabo or Bagdad? easy....

Mexico still good value for the buk! Nice night clubs also
