:fire::fire::fire::fire:Here we go agian . . . just the start of the Santa Anna season and I'm surrounded by fires.:fire::fire::fire::fire:

    Take it away Johhny:

    Love is a burnin' thing,
And it makes a fiery ring
    Bound by wild desire --
I fell into a ring of fire.

I fell into a burnin' ring of fire --
    I went down, down, down
    And the flames went higher,
    And it burns, burn, burns,
The ring of fir, the ring of fire.

The taste of love is sweet
    When hearts like ours meet.
I fell for you like a child --
Oh, but the fire ran wild.

I fell into a burnin' ring of fire --
    I went down, down, down
    And the flames went higher,
    And it burns, burn, burns,
The ring of fir, the ring of fire.

I fell into a burnin' ring of fire --
    I went down, down, down,
    And the flames went higher,
    And it burns, burn, burns,
The ring of fir, the ring of fire.

For most of the morning the smoke was all around and I had blue sky above, but the wind must have changed direction and the smoke came rolling in a few minutes ago. It's thick . . . snapped a couple of pics but it didn't take more than a couple of minutes for eyes to burn, throat to start feeling scratchy, etc.

I got paged out at 5am for fire patrols. Sitting on the ridge between Simi and Chatsworth on Lilac Lane, when over the radio I hear, "We've got smoke, all units report to Tampa and Sesnon." I saw no smoke. By the time I was at Tampa and Sesnon, it was intense smoke. We assisted with traffic control and evac's. The nearest I was to flame was probably about 1/4 mile, and even at that distance, I could feel the heat. I had to leave at noon to be at work by 2pm, and I left thinking, we're gonna definitely lose some homes. However, at 7pm tonight, we were "code 4." but still on 24 hour stand-by. I unfortunately did not have a camera with me, so no photo's. If I go back out tonight or tomorrow, the camera is already packed! By the way, 2 of my units detained a man leaving the area of where the smoke originated. He is currently under investigation.

That's got to be the worst part of all of this . . . we'll always have fires and the devistation that follows, but to think that all of this was done on purpose really leaves you with a bad feeling in your gut. Seems like most the major fires we've had over the last few years are Arson.

Wow. I skipped work yesterday and spent a couple hours sitting on my roof with the binoculars. That Sesnon fire had to be deliberate. There's no way anything could have carried from Sylmar to there.

Hopefully the 118 stays open today so I don't get stuck at work in Simi.

why do ya'll build your houses in an area that can burn them down every year? also whats with you guys and building in tornado alley? thats nuts! glad we dont have earthquakes and fire and tornados and hurricanes here in canada. feel real bad for the people that loose everything in natural disasters, atleast they have the courage to rebuild.

yeah, I built my house in the desert... there is not a tree for miles! ha! no shade though... and we don't have 'grasses' out here to burn! ha! but it is kinda barren... and flat... like the surface of the moon, just sand and lizards. but not much to burn!

of course, if its an arsonist, and he starts my house on fire, what am I gonna do?
