Looks like the entrance to a mine with a tarp over it.

              Vern,

              With a small tailings pile like that the mine shouldn't be very deep. But someone is trying to hide something! Go find it. All day on sunday I'll be chasing old mines n/e of Lucerne Valley :}

Ok I put on my stealth sneakers and took off looking for that mine. The GPS said I only elevated 500ft from start but it sure was a hard 500.

Yeah, the 100-400 F4 L is a terrific lens, but not a very handy one to have around on a hike!

Going out tomorrow through the tunnel to gandma's house......

This actually looks like something I would build for a survival shelter if I were lost out there. Did you find any evidence of someone having been there recently?

I've gotta get the Jeeps done, this is the kind of stuff I love doing.

                            South of the Tunnel

                            Yeah its a big tunnel

Went up to where the 400lens took the pics. Its really pretty barbaric in thar. Ran some GPS tracks. Need to overlay with the BLM maps. Theres a big section that isnt/is really BLM land..but will see.

Found some old wood ruins out of the creek bed. Dont know what they are. Last shot is at the Y

                              Cool Picture

I like history. This area has lots of it. Ya just got to look for it.

In the days of the Stage lines and freight wagons this area was just hazardess. They used to run through Mexico and come out at Tecate..they kept getting robbed..guess some things never change in Mexico eh?

Heres a ad from the stage line. John Capron owned the line. He sold it it in 1880 real cheap. 5 days to Tuson. Stops at Arizona City ( Yuma)

                              I like this one!

Got some other stuff I found.

                              What is this?

                              Kaboom

Some stuff just need to be left behind
