  • High Desert HAM Radio Training Classes & Test

    The Victor Valley Amateur Radio Club is hosting some training classes and an exam in February. We're going to try to make it. Here's the info:

    When: Saturday(s), February 13 th , 20 th , & 27 th, from 8am to 2pm - No formal lunch break – Bring your own Lunch (Brown Bag)

    Where: Fire Station 311, San Bernardino County Fair Grounds, Victorville (Off 7
    th Street)

    Cost: $35.00 per person (includes study manual and materials) Paid at the door with pre-registration. $45.00 at the door without pre-registration, space permitting.

    TESTING: The FCC exam will be given on the 27 th of February at 12:30pm (after the Tech class) for Technician, General and Extra Class.

        I just talked to them... apparently I misunderstood... the class is EVERY Saturday, not "pick one" like I had thought.

            When you take the test you will kick yourself for not doing it sooner. It is easier than most people think. The Tech test that is. General is a bit more complicated. The Tech test is mostly procedural and the General is more scientific.

              Agree 100% Especially since they dropped the MORSE Code requirement.

                We will be taking the test on Feb. 27, at the end of the classes. They said that only one person has failed the test ever in their program, and he was 9. Hopefully I don't become a statistic ... then there were two... he was 9, and a girl

                  Are they offering a General Class class? I need to upgrade. Especially since you told me the test will be getting tougher in June.

                    They didn't say, but I doubt it. Rick is interested in the General too. Maybe we can have our own little study session.
