  • TJ cruise control / AC wrong vents / vacuum hose replacement info+tips

    Hello everyone,

If your cruise control won't turn on or your AC acts weird such as only defrost, or AC from top vent but heat from bottom vent, then it is most likely a vacuum hose problem. Check youtube for videos on this as it's an *extremely* easy fix. I just did it for the first time and it took all of twenty minutes. It's also easy to diagnose and the replacement part is cheap.

You can diagnose it by simply inspecting the hose boots for cracking/damage. If you don't see any then a check valve has most likely failed. You can test by disconnecting from the intake manifold, and disconnecting the uc browser share it appvn second connection near there and use your mouth to blow in and suck out air. If air travels both directions then the valve has failed. You can do this with the second check valve further down the line as well so long as you're cognizant of plugging the appropriate openings upstream when testing.

I just did this replacement for the first time and it took all of 20 minutes. I probably spent more time zip tying the hose up to prevent contact with the engine than I did actually connecting it.
