air filters and locations

i am in the process of finding a new way to mount my air filter. mainly to keep it dry. just looking for some ideas

I always thought is would be a cool idea to use the TJ air filter and intake tube because it both mounts higher and takes air from the cooler side of the engine bay. Maybe worth looking into.

What kind of carb are you running on the cj? Might be worth looking at a fully enclosed circular style air cleaner assembly.

Would look at stock setups on 4-6 cylinder mid 80's trucks.

On my Yj i run an s10 throttle body, and with a few minor mods was able to use a stock s10 air cleaner assembly.

What year/engine throttle body?

90 s-10, on the air cleaner i just removed the nubs of material that centered the air cleaner on the gm spacer.

ive heard of doing the s10 t.b. swap somewhere else too. seems to be pretty popular for the yj guys.

What size is the s10 tb and the stock yj?

83 cj7 all stock 258(4.2). rite now have a normal round filter on it but it keeps getting wet and kills the motor.

if you do a bit of searching you can probably find a stock round air filter can that will fit on the stock carb. just look for an air cleaner assembly with the same opening for the carb as yours.
