Internal slave bleeding

Thanks Rick for the quick reply. I do get a pedal, but not quite enough to allow for easy gear engagement. I have to pump the pedal three times to get it into first or reverse, and again to get the trans out of OD. This condition did not exist before the clutch job...replaced due to oil saturation from a blow rear main seal.

Sounds like you're on the right track... that's what I would look at. If you get no pedal, the master is the most likely cause.

Is it totally dead, or do you get a little pedal? It is possible that you still have some air in there, but not likely if you have bled the heck out of it.

I recently replaced the clutch assy. including the internal slave cylinder, and had the flywheel resurfaced while apart.
Now i'm having trouble getting the proper pedal action. I've tried gravity bleeding, and have had two different helpers pump the pedal while I worked the valve...still poor pedal. 88 YJ 4.2L, BA10/5 trans.
Could it be time for a clutch master cylinder? Greg
