  • replace a wheel joint

Hey guys has anyone out there ever changed the wheel joints.
I have a 1988 wrangler and my wheel joints are shot. Im going to try to tackle this job myself. but I have never done this before can some help me through this. is there a C clip that
hold the axles in inside the diff. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx Guys! R.K.

There are no c-clips that hold the axles in.

    Step 1: Remove tire
Step 2: Remove cotter pin and large nut on end of axle
Step 3: 3 bolts on unit bearing
Step 4: remove unit bearing and axle
Step 5: Remove u-joint. A tool, like this:http://www.tooltown.org/auto/ball-joint-press.htm helps alot. you can probably rent on from your local parts house.
    Step 6-done: Reverse of above.

    Its really simple.
