    if it's '91 or newer, it's H.O... in '99 they redesigned the intake (gave it equal length runners) and called it the Power Tech engine (they still do).

    If you were looking at just an engine and didn't know which year XJ it was out of, you could look at the head casting number.

    yes it is! it's actually got a tiny bit more power than the pre-99 (5 HP or so), due to a revised intake.

    started a topic 4.0L question...

    4.0L question...

    I have a 93xj obviously and i convinced my girl to get one, however being a little bit more loaded than me, she is going for a newer model, near the 99-02 years....my question is, my 93 came w/ the 4.0L high output but it seems like the newer ones dont have the high output 4.0....i know its still a 4.0 but is it still high output or no? Thanks.
